Milroe was Sabans biggest mistake at Alabama.

Don't know why. Saban had lots of other options but recruited Milroe probably because he could run the ball - similar to Jalen Hurts - but I'm only I'm speculating here. Whatever the reason Milroe should have never been a starter at Alabama.

I’m guessing Milroe was a hell of a salesman, or his pitch man was. Either way he was one of the most mysteriously inconsistent players I’ve ever seen. Mostly bad but then had some gems against LSU and UGA

Sark recruited Milroe.

Even with Milroe, we made it to the playoffs. He’s 2-0 against Georgia and LSU so I’m not all that upset about it, but I do think Ty deserved a shot in the Tennessee and Oklahoma games last year.

His biggest mistakes were Pete Golding and Bill O'Brien.

Losing Lane when he did cost him a natty.

Kicking the Kick6 cost him a 3peat.

But he made up for it by knowing when to leave. If he stays another year, somebody else pays DeBoer and BAMA hires somebody not as good. If he leaves in 2020, we get stuck with Sark. Yikes.

We've been over this 1000x. He was the fallback plan after Drake Maye decommitted. Please list all these other great last minute options Saban passed on.

I will disagree with you about losing Lane. If you go back and watch that game Bama was dominating Clemson until Bo Scarborough got knocked out with an injury. I think they were up 10-14 points maybe. Clemson had no answer for Bo. Once he left the game then Hurts had to do more with his arm and that’s when the trouble started. He just wasn’t a very good passer at that point in his career. I think Hurts broke a big run late in the game to put Bama up if I’m remembering right. Had he used up an extra second or two doing that then Bama probably wins anyway because Clemson scored with a second or two left in the game to win.

So Lane was OC for all the games and they made it to the natty. He gets fired a week before the natty, BAMA loses, and you don't think that had an effect?

You think BAMA loses that game with Lane at OC?

C'mon man.

I think Bama wins that game despite all of that if Bo Scarborough doesn’t get hurt.

He didn’t lose Lane, he sent him packing because he was trying to serve two masters.

Who told Milroe he needed to change positions.

What does that have to do with the argument given? Simpson is better than Milroe and should've been the starter

He was an elite athlete.

He got drafted on potential.

It’s there, but he and whoever works with him will need to refine it.

I imagine in HS Milroe was unstoppable.

He’s capable of big upside plays.

I know he can disappoint as well, but whoever drafted him thought it was worth a shot.

He did take us to the playoffs, and had us leading Michigan in the 4th, like Hurts, defense should have finished off those games, but you're right, he was just wildly inconsistent.

I don't know that he had a better option. Drake Maye was committed for a decent while in that recruiting class and then decommitted and at some point you have to take a QB. Entering the 2023 season the options were Milroe or a freshman or the lacrosse player from Notre Dame. I think Milroe genuinely probably was the best option that season.

Saban has a little "woke" in him at times.

Uh no. Sark froze up - as he’s known to do in big games - when Bo got knocked out of the game. Josh Jacob’s and Damien Harris were averaging the exact same yards per carry as Bo and he decided to give them 7 Carries while throwing the ball 31 times.

Sark cost Bama the championship. You simply had to not throw the ball more than running it when your QB was completing 40% of his passes and bama wins 2016 by 2 scores.

Lane was also railing Saban's daughter, which pissed him off.

I came here to say this. Biggest mystery to me is how some coaches out think themselves
