Lonnie made a good point about firing Beamer

He stated on the big board that with all the coaches being fired we would be left with scraps to pick from so getting rid of Beamer this year may not be wise . He should have a choice to stay but get a college style OC or he can move on.

I think he needs to hit at least one of the two below to come back:
1. Finish the regular season 6-6 or better.
Or
2. He hires a proven true college OC AND he convinces Lanorris to come back for one more season.
All 3 are out of the question and I seriously doubt we finish 6-6 or better. We’re basically looking at 4-8 or 5-7. If we go 3-9 he’s out, no question about it.

I can’t get on board with this reasoning, and it’s nothing against Lonnie.
Our current coach, who has been here for five years, is clearly incapable of hiring an offensive staff. His most “successful” hire (Loggains) was made to look better than he actually was due to Sellers miraculously breaking multiple sacks last season. The Satterfield and Shula tenures have been abject nightmares.
At some point, we have to accept that Beamer doesn’t know how to identity a decent OC with an effective system in today’s college football landscape. And by no means should he get a 4th attempt. He is an excellent recruiter and that’s about it.
We have a very talented roster with perhaps the highest-ceiling QB we’ve ever had, yet we are statistically witnessing one of the most putrid offenses in Carolina history. And at this moment, Beamer STILL hasn’t fired the one responsible. I don’t understand how anyone can have faith in his judgment.
Put yourself in our new AD’s shoes. Would you want to hold the hand of your football coach to hire his next OC? Isn’t that what the HC is supposed to do himself? Is Donati supposed to have confidence in Beamer to do the job he was hired to do five years ago?
It doesn’t matter if there’s not a large selection pool of potential coaches, you can’t keep Beamer in place. Think of it this way, we were the only school who even considered him for HC last time. Literally no other school even had him as a possibility. Yet for some reason, a huge chunk of our fanbase has had this perplexing confidence that he’s the right guy for the job. Why can’t that same line of thinking be applied to some other “under the radar” coach? Maybe one who has his own offensive system and can actually score TDs?
We have the money and the resources to attract someone good, even with all of the other openings in place. I’m tired of our fans and alumni selling our university short.

We only interviewed two coaches last time: Beamer and Napier. Napier got fired already and had never been a OC/DC/HC before we hired him. He was less qualified than a guy who didn’t finish his 4th season.

On the all time list here (for the modern era), Beamer currently sits behind Morrison and Carlin and in front of Muschamp and Holtz.
So he's middle of the road.
As for Naiper, his record was signficantly worse than Beamers...

We do have an extra game each season now that Morrison, Carlin, and Holtz didn’t have too.
Fact is, we’ll always be stuck with the Muschamps and Beamers of the world and the results they bring until we raise our expectations. I have no time for excuses from the losers who want to say “well what do you expect?” How about we don’t fricking suck and you stop tolerating, expecting it, and excusing it? fricking cucks.

Napier was a hot name at the time. Honestly glad we dodged that bullet. Feels like UF never had highs with him, and he couldn't care less about UF. Shane has been a roller coaster, with some highs, and does care.
Caring doesnt necessarily mean competency or wins, but I am glad we didnt hire Napier

The perfect storm in my eyes, is that the AD uses his connections...starts talks with Kendall Briles, and hires him as the OC. Basically forces Shane to go that route.
Will that happen, probably not...but I do think that would make people happy

Oh yeah Napier would have been shite too. That’s my point. The old regime interview two candidates and both are shite.

It's not like other schools don't have the same money, and more, and the same resources with a better brand name. Then look at our history and compare it. We would not get anywhere close to the top 5 or 6 coaches available and I don't want to settle for less.
It's not selling our team short it's called reality.

Look at Indiana. Two weeks ago everyone KNEW that Cignetti was going to leave for any of the bigger programs after this season. Yet he signed a massive extension and Indiana is probably about to become a mainstay in the CFP. Clemson has fallen out of the playoff picture because Dabo refuses to use the portal like he could.
It’s because it’s not 2012 anymore. The portal and NIL have changed the landscape. Coaches can literally flip a roster in one offseason and high school kids know they’ll get paid wherever they go. Enrollments aren’t enrollments anymore - they’re temporary placeholders. Kids simply don’t care about trophies anymore. They want playing time and money.
We need a high level recruiter who has his own offensive system. There are coaches like that out there - Kendal Briles for example. We’ve already shown that past HC experience doesn’t matter to coach the Gamecocks, so why not give him a shot?

I agree. We need a college spread offense not the Beamer/Muschump offense where they run time off the clock and try not to make mistakes and win it in the 4th approach.

To be fair to Beamer, he's 1 of those two things. We are recruiting as well as we ever have (which is both kind of encouraging and sad at the same time...)

We need (or would all like) an offense like the Tennessee game on a weekly basis...
The only problem with that is how that type of offense stresses the defensive side of the ball...
Of course I could make the same argument about out CURRENT offense (that it stresses our defense.) When you can't make a 1st down, the guys on the other side of the ball are going to have a bad day,..

And yet our AD will keep Beamer
