Lets say USC sputters the rest of the way and they cut bait with Riley.
Would you rather pay Lane Kiffin a king's ransom, or pay your choice of up and coming defensive coordinators a lot less than that + pay about that much to Lincoln Riley to be your OC?
In this scenario Riley gets enough to where it would take a larger school wanting him as a HC for him to leave, so its not like he's there one year and out the door in all likelihood.
Hate on Riley all you want but he has put a ton of QBs and WRs in the league, and offense has never been his problem as a coach. I think there would be an arms race in CFB to bring him in as an OC if he were to get the axe.

Have you seen his offense? It is Air raid like tempo (slow) with a bunch of check with me's. Burn timeouts due to the play clock like crazy and the plays aren't great because most of the explosives are QBs running around and hitting open WR.
He is a coach that does Ok when he has super talented QB and WRs. But never been great coaching a defense and struggles with average talent.

Lincoln Riley has the second highest buyout in college football - $90 million.
He ain’t going nowhere for a while.

If TBOW couldn’t field a competent defense at Oklahoma, there is no way he can ever get to the championship. The 2017 team was his best and they still won multiple games against no nonranked opponents by one score.

I believe USC has more billionaire alumni than any other major CFB program, and has thousands of alumni with over a $30m net worth. If we were talking about somewhere like Tennessee I would agree, but I wouldn't say its impossible for USC to swing if they really wanted to. Though I don't think its so bad there that they could raise enough to do it.
