Do we have an OC issue?

I mean, I like Kirby and think he can call a great game. That being said, everyone and their mother knew Auburn was going to be stacking the box. How could he not prepare for that? Yowza, need to make some adjustments before they head to Nashville for sure.

Chiefs proving today how lethal a screen game can be with YAC guys. Moore needs to call more screens. Maybe he’s held back by limited pass catchers and he’s actually a genius… but then he also keeps calling shite his QBs are dog shite at.

He doesn't mix the running game up enough. Teams know what it looks like when are we running OZ. Defensive Coordinators know what down, distance, hash location, personnel package, and yard line he likes to run it from. Auburn was ready for every time they ran it last night. They hit a couple good runs off counter action last night. Roberts had a good run late in the redzone on IZ. They can run Duo and Split Zone out of multiple formations. Hell, run the option out of the pistol once in a while.
Im in complete agreement about the screen game.

Case in point, Bush Hamden. When he was with Mizzou, you could tell exactly when he was calling plays and when Drink took over. Hamden plays were much more cohesive.
Then he gets the FT gig at Kentucky and his offense sucks.
Remember at least 80% of these guys get fired within 6 years.

It's fairly obvious we do when podcasters can see we're not playactioning with our RBs and an Alabama DB can completely abandon a coverage assignment knowing the ball is going to be thrown over the middle for an easy interception.
The real question is why isn't Eli Drinkwitz aware of it or being made aware of it?

He is the biggest factor endangering playoff chances.

That play was on Beau not Moore.
The CB and slot defender were in zone reading the QB. He didn't abandon anything. Both defenders flowed where Beau''s eyes told them the ball was going. He was in his throwing motion before Olugbode clear the slot defender, who was responsible for the flat. That's why Johnson was "wide-open. If Beau reads that play outside in, Olugbode has no one within 10 yds of him. Even with staring down the WR, Olugbode had open grass inside the hash. A good throw moves the chains.
Im more fed up with the passing game execution and to a lesser extent personnel, than passing game play calling. Moore is using solid concepts but Beau refuses to pull the trigger on deeper throws and holds onto the ball long enough for the second level to recover and rally to the secondary routes or he takes a sack. Its like watching Cook. This offense needs an arm to reach its potential

I didn't watch the game but how many times did Moore dial up the roll out to the right, pass to Norfleet for a 1 yard game? I bet at least twice.

They ran at least 4 bootlegs and they were all for shite.

We haven’t run a bootleg for decent yardage in a few games it seems. Pribula hits Norfleet for like two yards every time but it’s hard to image the intermediate or deep crossers are covered every time.

It requires off platform accuracy beyond the second level and Beau hasnt shown any of that since the kU game.

We need to fix our zone running issue. Outside zone running is a staple of Kirby’s offense. When Auburn would load the box Pribula was having trouble checking out or reading the defense. We don’t need to rely on Pribula. Auburn had 9 TFL. It’s hard to win a game when you lose yards on over 10% of your plays.
Run more counters, quick screens, and play-action to Norfleet.
Roberts needs more than 5 touches. Hardy had 24 which is the minimum he needs a game.

In retrospect, Auburn defense is really good. They held Texas A&M to low score Oklahoma to low score so maybe it’s not quite as terrible as everything seems.
