Per ESPN.

University of Tennessee baseball coach Tony Vitello has emerged as a front-runner for the San Francisco Giants' managerial job, and a resolution on a potential deal is expected in the next 24 to 72 hours, sources told ESPN on Saturday, confirming multiple reports.
Should the sides agree on a contract, Vitello would become the first manager in major league history to jump directly from a college program to the big leagues without experience in a professional organization.

Sucks for them.
Was yesterday a kind of joint Pearl Harbor for both LSU and Tennessee?

As I said yesterday that has to be tempting for Vitello and that is no insult to the Vols.
Everyone wants to "make" the Big Leagues, coaches the same as players. You can put together a World Series contender with some work in San Fran. Plus, worse comes to worst, he's on the job market in a few years and college programs will be throwing money at him to coach.
On the other hand, barring he has a murder scandal or something, he's pretty well coach for life at the Vols. That is a big monkey to have off your back. Knoxville isn't a bad place to live either.
