My personal opinion about Lane Kiffin

Lane is the best coach in my schools history, in my opinion. I’m surprised he’s stuck it out with us more than 5 years. He’s proven to be a great coach. I think he will eventually leave Ole Miss.
I know no other Rebs fan will like this on the SECrant, but if there’s one school he leaves us for, I hope it’s Florida.
I grew up a Gator fan, in Florida, and my dad’s entire side of the family went there. I would’ve of gone there, but couldn’t get in. (Before you say I’m stupid, I went to Bishop Kenny. A private school in Jax. One of my best friends there, had 3.9, and was Eagle Scout and didn’t get in, but they let out-of-staters get in with a 3.4. I got into FSU, and wouldn’t go there, because I grew up hating them). I still cheer for the Gators in every game outside of when yall play my alma mater. Which sucked going to the Swamp last year with my dad.
I have no doubt in my mind Lane would win a National Championship at UF, if not multiple. I think Florida is one of the hand full of jobs he’d take over Ole Miss right now.
If he leaves my school, I’ll root for him at Florida, and I hope that’s the only job he leaves us for.
P.S. All the Gator fans on here are cool, and I’d like to have beer with any one of yall. Except Lt. Columbo. That dudes lives in a dumpster and is a complete loser.

quote:FWIW on a small Gator board that I've somewhat posted on since about 2013, one of the guys who isn't an insider but knows a few people (I think he knows some sports agents based on how he mentions his tidbits) claimed that Lane had expressed serious interest in the UF job in 2021 when Mullen got fired but wouldn't even get an interview from our AD.
I think Florida is one of the hand full of jobs he’d take over Ole Miss right now.
Again, message board fodder but if there's any truth to it, he might be interested in the UF job. Doesn't mean he'd take it, of course as he has a nice set up in Oxford.
I do agree I think Lane could get it done here. And by get it done I think he could take this program, and his own career, to a higher level. Especially if he can get the level of buy in here that he has there.
Part of why we've sucked, besides hiring loser coaches, is we haven't had full buy in to play with the big boys in football.
With the amount of failure we've had in recent years, I think even the UAA, and especially the boosters, are waking up that something has to change. If we even actually pursue Lane that would be a sign that we'd be willing to try something different. And if he were to accept an offer from UF, it could be interesting.

Yep there was booster pushback against going after Kiffin from Gary and some others last time. Now he seems to be their top choice if he will come here.

There is no doubt that Kiffin is the choice for most Gator fans to replace Napier, I still remain very doubtful that he will leave Ole Miss at this time.
With the trajectory of the Rebel program right now, if he gets into the playoffs this season, he has good reason to believe that he can win a Natty in Oxford. If he does that he will have a huge statue of him in front of the stadium that will be renamed Kiffin field. Add to that the personal reasons like his son playing high school football in Oxford and the fact he never has to pay for a meal at any restaurant in town and I ask why would he leave? The timing is just not good for UF and Kiffin right now. We can dream but realistically we need to ask Lane and look at realistic candidates.

Being I invented the term Negagator, I believe that I am aware of the definition. Questioning who our next coach will be doesn't qualify to be called a Negagator. Typically the definition is a so called fan for the Gators that constantly trashes the team, coaches, boosters, administration. Does this definition fit anyone on this board?
I hope like hell that I am wrong and that Kiffin will be our next coach, I just don't believe that will happen for the reasons I listed.

He’d be walking into a loaded WR unit, a standout RB, with a promising young QB (I still believe Lagway has potential and Napier’s system is destroying him). He realistically could come in and compete for a championship in his first year if he could coach up Lagway.
But yeah I’m very doubtful he would leave his current set up. Stricklin will find a way to f up this next hire.

I was sure someone on Gatorcountry invented it...they are very big homers over there....or were. I was banned cause I was kinda mean to people who believed in Napier even though it was very clear after year 2 when he did not hand over playcalling even though he is terrible at it. I love UF, but hate Napier. Not sure I have ever even disliked a Gator football HC..Mullen I liked as an OC and was nice in person, so didnt slam him or Muschamp as a person at all. Napier, I hate no doubt. Want him out now.

Lag was a 5 star for a reason...most five stars workout..if they do not it is usually because of off the field issues or bad coaching. Like a first round pick in the NFL. While not all work out well, most do.

Normally I want GA to lose every game but I think GA beating Ole Miss might make Lane a little more likely to come here. That and Ole Miss losing another game and not getting a top 4 playoff seed might help.

Daniel Tosh and Lane are related...can't convince me otherwise.
