I am not here to try to convince anyone that it was a fumble or a TD. You can make up your mind. Nor am I here to claim that the refs cost Auburn the game: not with the way we played in the second half
However, I think we can agree that the Refs screwed the call either way, If the ball crossed the plane before the fumble it was a TD. If it was a fumble then Georgia returned it for a TD. What it was not, was Georgia;s ball at the 1.
Refs blew the whistle because they did not see the fumble period. Anyway to what I want to talk about.
This particular SEC crew is bad, has been bad for years, and will not improve. There are several other crews in the same boat. Why does the league office not hold them accountable?
Replay is out of control. First, I have seen better video from cell phones! Second there are so many reviews that games are virtually unwatchable. 45 minutes real time to play 2 minutes of football? 4 hours to play a game? It is time to go to the NFL challenge system.
I used to officiate back in the day. Best advice I was given: "no one bought a ticket to watch you referee". SEC refs think we watch to see how well and how often they throw flags.
Last, if you can not call targeting consistently (and it is clear they can not_- do away with the rule

Sorry you have a problem reading. Maybe your lack of education has something to do with it.

First and last sentences seem legit. Didn’t read the rest.

Specific to that play, goal line qb sneaks are always difficult to track and spot. Usually they have to pull apart the pile to determine if the ball crossed the plane, which is always going to create room for error.

Slo Mo
Down the goal line view
It seems clear to me he did make it into the end zone but it would have been a tough call on the field. Any line zone ref should have been able to make it though. Was similar to 5th down call on Missouri-Colorado game years ago when I was actually staring down the goal line. Refs are human .

Blown call one way or the other. Anyway you slice it.
The take away though is just don't drop the ball. Bad shite can happen when you drop the football.

I believe that this is a practical world and that I can count only on what I earn. Therefore, I believe in work, hard work. I believe in education, which gives me the knowledge to work wisely and trains my mind and my hands to work skillfully. I believe in honesty and truthfulness, without which I cannot win the respect and confidence of my fellow men. I believe in a sound mind, a sound body, and a spirit that is not afraid, and in clean sports that develop these qualities. I believe in obedience to law because it protects the rights of all. I believe in the human touch, which cultivates sympathy with my fellow men and brings mutual helpfulness and happiness for all. I believe in my country, because it is a land of freedom and because it is my own home, and that I can best serve that country by “doing justly, loving mercy, and walking humbly with my God.” And because Auburn men and women believe in these things, I believe in Auburn and love it.
