Delp’s effort on that play was a little, um, lacking.

It wasn’t lacking. He’s supposed to be a receiving option. He’s trying not to block too early while Gunner is still behind the line of scrimmage so a pass is still an option. If he blocks too early Gunner has to run or else it’s OPI.

Once Gunner crossed the LOS he should be trying to get upfield to block a DB.

Number 8 that had 2 steps on him already and the angle? Delp also knew we had the first down at like the 4 so the TD wasn’t necessary.
Look I’m as disappointed in the lack of pop from the TEs as anybody but let’s please be fair to what’s actually happening on an individual play and not cherry pick it to show nanana boo boo Delp sucks blah blah.

No, he didn’t have the angle there, obviously, but turn upfield and at least look like you’re trying to get an angle on a DB pursuing laterally, don’t just start jogging. I think that comes down to coaching, to be clear. Not trying to cherry pick, but agree that I would also like to see more out of the TEs

Gunner was not supposed to score on that play, Kirby said he wanted Gunner get the first down and fall down, they were going to just run the clock out
