This is exactly what makes the SEC so hard. You are humming along, hype yourself up telling everyone your coach and QB is good, then roll into a disaster of a program and HC only to get embarrassed in front of all of your people. The sad thing is the SEC is a shell of what we used to be.

Sarkisian is claiming a moral victory.

“Most people thought we were probably dead and gone, and we fought all the way back,” Sarkisian said.

What were you expecting when you hired a coach that averaged 7-5 on the West coast.

How long is your melt going to last?

That’s irrelevant to the question you asked, but since you asked, there are quite a few whose performance did not match expectations.

Kevin Steele was replaced with Kirby Smart.

Major Applewhite. You may have heard of him.

Doug Nussmeier (his son is, however, putting in some good work for Bama right now).

Most Alabama fans would say the team was successful in spite of, rather than because of Pete Golding

These are right off the top of my head, but I’m sure I can come up with some more if you want

BIG AL had as much to do with Nick Saban's success at Alabama as Sark

What has he accomplished as a head coach other than hype from the talking heads?

He’s probably a better OC than HC

As a head coach, that’s a different question but it’s not completely Sark’s fault.

A massive number of programs have hired Saban’s Alabama assistants thinking they’d be getting something akin to their own Saban.

Kirby and Kiffin (due to the lower historical performance of Ole Miss) are the only ones that met those expectations.

Saban assistants that failed:
Pruitt
Muschamp

Saban assistants that still have not won championships as a head coach:
Kiffin
Locksley
Sarkisian
Napier

Jimbo had one championship because Auburn shite the bed like usual, but he was never consistent after Winston went pro.

Actually he averages 7 now after 2 back to back 10 win seasons

But when he came to Utrans and for his first 2 years he averaged 6 wins per year over his career
