Ole Miss Rebels vs LSU Fighting Tigers -a great classic reborn- (stories etc)

As I few of you may know always a difficult game for me because I played a little for Ole Miss in the 80s, I have two degrees from Ole Miss, my dad was a bagman for the rebels, and hated LSU with a passion for trying to hurt Archie, (we lived right by him in married student housing and he used throw us kids a nerf ball or something
), the ole Miss coaches used to stay at my house, usually in my room on recruiting trips to my hometown, I was an original member of save the flag with Frank Hurdle etc. I still love the rebels.
But even at Ole Miss everyone knew I was an LSU fan. I grew up in Baton Rouge, my little brother, and countless cousins, and uncles played at LSU and my grandfather was a LSU recruiter and huge fan and would have played for the Tigers but he got my grandma pregnant.
Multiple year all state middle linebacker from Bogalusa. If LSU had expressed any interest in me I would have murdered and eaten someone to play.
So I love both schools and always have and typically pull for the team that has a better chance to go to championship etc.
My dad bought us ole miss football uniforms for Christmas and my grandfather counted with LSU uniforms and a team signed ball, so my dad would get us an ole miss signed ball etc. It was awesome. Unfortunately both of them were gone by the time my brother and I were in school.
So may the lucky team win.

My best memories:
When my brother was at LSU all the other guys knew I was at ole Miss so they challenged me to drinking games and this damn barbershop chair they poured liquor into and then popped u up and shook you. Fear not rebels I didn’t quit and they quickly gave up on that shite and I ended up chasing some women with a few of them.
I honestly was so fricked up I have no damn clue how I got back to hotel or anything after about 2 am.

When LSU and ole Miss used to play I. Jackson how LSU would send this drunk idiot to the student section in an LSU helmet who flipped everyone off and then a cascade of whiskey bottles would rain down on him like a thunderstorm

The earliest memories I have of football is Ole Miss vs LSU...there is absolutely nothing like it. We rarely win there, but I wish every single game in this series was played in Tiger Stadium on Saturday night. That game is college football.

I remember going to one of the games in the 90’s at VHS. End of the 3rd quarter, they started playing “in the air tonight” and a slow fog came through one of the open endzone corners and crossed the field to the other side. Huge chills
Also Billy Cannon stepped out of bounds.

4th quarter of the game last year I had my shirt off swinging it round my head like a mad man screaming like a banshee….. I’m 40 years old. One of my top games in TS

Thanks for sharing. That's awesome stuff. I had little expectations for this Ole Miss team coming into the year but with the way the season is unfolding, a win this Saturday would change that. Hoping for a fun game (and an Ole Miss win)

My grandfather had to be late 40s or 50s. He was a Corkern. I didn’t know much about it until I found his old letterman’s jacket in a closet with all the stuff on it.

I’ve been to every LSU-Ole Miss game from 2004-2020 minus the 2019 game. LSU alum but wanted to go to Ole Miss in high school and change it up. Scholarship was too good and live in the Pacific Northwest now so I don’t make it to games often.
Many lifelong rebel friends and amazing times at both venues. When they’re peak it doesn’t get any wilder. Envious for the baws that’ll be in Oxford this weekend.

I was at this game.
Ole Miss Lou groza award winning kicker missed 2 FG’s and lose by 3.
I was also at 4and25
Ole Miss could have 8 SEC championships if it weren’t for some fluke plays. 8 SEC championships would be on par with Auburn and Florida.
Hotty Toddy!

Great memories of this game as a kid, sitting in the S End Zone. The contrast of colors on the field for this game and Ala always stood out to me. Both games were always later in the season when the weather had finally turned, and it just felt, smelled, and looked like college football should.
Fast forward to the mid-90s. Left the DEKE house in BR in a '69 Cadillac that seemed 90' long. We'd written on the back windshield: "Ole Miss Plays Football Like Old People frick" and we took off down I-55 with a car full of booze and window flags flying. The folks in the grove loved us!
Great times and always one of my favorite games!

I've never been more sad than Nov 22, 2003. Sitting in that stadium as a kid watching our Lou Groza award winner miss two chip shots. At that moment, I learned life as an Ole Miss fan was going to be a roller coaster.

My grandfather, Audis Gill coached your grandfather at Bogalusa. He played at LSU in the 40s and backed up YA and went on to coach at Bogalusa after coaching at his Alma Mater Warren Easton.
My great uncle Stanley was the coach at Bogalusa before and won a couple state championships before becoming the coach at SELU. He interviewed for the LSU job but lost it to Charlie Mac.
This is wild
