The last 2 or 3 times I've driven to Georgia there has been absolutely insane construction in the Bowdon/Villa Rica area. And like a dummy I always forget about it until I'm in it and then can't do shite. For Austin Peay it was literally an hour delay since there is practically no movement and there aren't many side streets you can detour off once you're stuck in it.

I assume it's still ongoing with no real progress over the last 3 weeks? If that is the case, what would y'all recommend for someone coming from the west? Looking at google maps it looks like I can get off at exit 11 in bremen/Bowdon and go up to Highway 78, then go east for about 20 miles and get back on I20 around exit 30 Post road. Is that a good play or ridiculous? Just plugging that into a route on google maps shows that being about 20 minutes longer than just going straight through, BUT I have to imagine that GM isn't taking that construction into account. i refuse to get caught in an hour standstill like last time.

Any good suggestions?

My previous trips I haven't had a map/route app pulled up because I haven't thought it necessary but yeah definitely will this weekend. Just curious if any locals knew a good route in advance I could be eyeing too.

Once you get east of villa rica it’s pretty much over. But 166 and 78 parallel 20 all the way to Atlanta.
But I’m only driving this on weekdays not weekends.

I live in Bremen. Yes, get off at exit 11 and go 78 to Post Rd or even Hwy 5. Not a long detour. Might add 8 minutes to your trip.

Sweet thanks! I will definitely do that. I can't stand inching along in traffic

Take either 78 or 278 to get around it.

61 is a good alternate also

I drove to Talladega and back on I-20 on Sunday and didn't hit any construction.
