Can LSU make the playoffs if they average 20 points per game? And will Nuss be able to win the Heisman with that type of production?

Sure, no problem. It is very important to win games. If you lose more than a couple of games per season you likely will not make the playoffs. That is why LSU has only made the playoffs one time, ever.

They played 1 pretty good defense (Clemson) and a decent one in (LA Tech) so no cupcakes

They played Clemson. Clemson is one of the best team's in the country. Probably at least make the semis this year if not the championship game.
