It has featured weird ties, rushing records and probably a few too many Civil War references, if we're being honest, but the Border Showdown is back for a couple of years! Hell, yes. And whether Mizzou and Kansas players are prepared or not -- almost none of them really grew up with this rivalry, after all -- they're going to be playing in a lion's den Saturday afternoon. "I had no idea about the whole Civil War history," Missouri QB Beau Pribula told the media this week. "I thought it was just a sports rivalry, but I guess it goes beyond that." Indeed

LINK

Joking title aside, this guy went to HS and college in Pennsylvania before transferring to Missouri. He’d never heard anything about the border war/John Brown/the Kansas-Nebraska Act. I think that he is representative of most people outside of the Midwest, and his comment shows just how much the average person doesn’t understand the real dislike Kansas and Missouri have for each other. I mean, jokes and snide remarks fly whenever a Kansan meets a Missourian, but a lot of the time, in my experience, it can be not so friendly or playful.

So, yeah, for those of you who don’t know, tomorrow is a really, really big deal for these two fanbases.

Dissertation done.
P.S. I care because I live in Kansas.

Do they feel good about their chances to win this game? Kansas didn't look bad but it's hard to tell with the competition level.

Kansas does, yes. Their defense is a lot better than it used to be.

We’re better than they think. missouri rant on here insists their exhibition against Central Arkansas answers all questions.

Don’t get me wrong, they could very well win and I’d be honestly surprised if we walk out of there with a W because that’s going to be a very hostile environment by Kansas standards.

But damn, most of their fans are already talking about the week of the Alabama game. We dominated Fresno who’s probably going bowling.

Drink tends to flop in big games during the regular season. Kansas is used to upsets.

We’ll see. Should be awesome either way.

It really depends on Daniels who can be a total flake or total gamer. The liberty bowl against Arkansas, he couldn’t give them the fricking ball enough in the first half but in the second half he almost rallied us back from a 25 point deficit to triple overtime.

Had a great game against Fresno, had a good game against Wagner. I really hated the pick he threw before halftime last week, but that’s the only bad thing I’ve seen so far. He unfortunately did that a lot last year which cost us about five fricking games decided by one score.

Him and/or the defense would just totally shite the bed at the end of halves last year. I also blame our coordinators who are both gone this year at least.

The way we had Kansas State under our boot and he fumbles the ball late in the 4th quarter last year up one still makes my skin crawl.

I'm closer to Kansas than I am to Mizzou and now that we're mid-tier at best, I want my fellow mid-tier SEC teams to crash and burn.

I joke a lot about UTk and AU, but the Missouri-Kansas thing is real. It is a statewide Hatfield and McCoy type situation among rural residents. I am not sure how much of that passion transfers onfield to their football games. But, the fans will certainly be at a low threshold for shite talk and mutual assholery.

I once stayed the night with an old Army friend en route back to Kansas where I was stationed. He wasn't joking when he asked me to back in the driveway so no one saw the KS license plate on my car
