Not trying to start an argument here. Just wonder how you rank him as the Football coach at UF.
I think C- would be the ranking I would give him. Helped get us out of the damage Mullen did but I think there is zero chance Florida can win the SEC with him.

C- sounds good.
It should be lower but the late season win streak brought his grade up.
The repeated issues with special teams, the basement fan comment, inability to see the fan criticism is directed towards him and not his players, failure to learn from mistakes, over reliance on Mertz over Lagway..,all of it has been very frustrating.
But the real kicker was when he talks about scared money don’t make money, and then proceeds to opt for the tie instead of the win when he had Top 10 Tennessee on the ropes in Knoxville, and promptly gets stomped in OT.

Not enough time for final grade. A C would be good score so far.

Take away the strong finish last year and I'd give him a D, the finish got him up to a C-. If I had to bet on his final grade when all is said and done I'd say it's closer to a D, but hoping it shoots up to an A with some great play this year.

How long to grade faily in your view?

A D so far. Bad record and terrible game mgmt usually. He has no more excuses with Lagway being the QB now.

D+, recruting has been the only saving grace so far, not sure how he keeps pulling classes with his record.
Lets hope he turns it around this season with a healthy DJ Lagway

He has the worst winning percentage since Raymond Wolf who coached UF from 1946 - 1949. Anything higher than a D is giving Napier a lot of grace.

He hasn't even been a great recruiter. His highest class ranking is #10. He's about the same as Mac and Mullen.
Mullen had the #8 class in 2020 (although that was a lot of smoke and mirrors, but Dan was never known as a great recruiter).
Mac never really had good classes. His highest class was #10.
Muschamp was a great recruiter, He had a couple top 5 classes.
Meyer was obviously a great recruiter and Zook had a couple great classes as well.

Yep Napier's classes aren't that great considering we are in the SEC but he is decent at finding gems I think.

True, however I am surprised he pulling the classes he does get given the total clusterfrick we see on the field. How he convinces guys like Lagway & EW3 to join and stick around is beyond me

Agree, and he definitely seems like Mac in that regard. Both came from smaller programs and seem to have an ability to evaluate talent.
Unfortunately, both seem to have the same hard headed-ness and refuse to make a move with offensive coordinators.

Yea he does seem nice..but we need coaches to be egotistical like Spurrier and Meyer were. You have to believe you are the best to win here.

C- but can become a B if we win 9 this year.

I thought 10 but agree. He needs to prove it this year, he is paid millions to win, I don't feel bad when you make millions a year to do something I am sure most guys would love to do. Seriously..who here would not want to make millions and coach at UF(not saying we would be good, I know I would suck).

Fun fact: Coach Napier is 1 - 10 in road games against Power 5/4 teams that had winning seasons that year in his 7 years as a head coach and the lone win came while he was at Louisiana.

Your idea of fun and mine are very different I think.
Posted on 8/12/25 at 7:51 pm to Gatorbait2008
Another fun fact: The Gators have not beat a Power 5 / 4 team in a road game that ended the season with a winning record since 2019 - 5 straight years. Even in that 2020 Covid season with the good offense we lost the one road game we had against a Power 5 / 4 team that ended up with a winning record.
