Literally picked names from a hat. Name one big win, over an equally talented or better team, that James Franklin has won.

Bill Connelly is an attention whore who doesn’t believe that list.

People just see the graphic and rage, but it is all explained in his article:
https://www.espn.com/college-football/story/_/id/45739570/ranking-best-college-football-coaches-last-20-years
In short, if you put a bunch of data into a formula you sometimes get some wild results. It isn't perfect. Over time models improve.

Because of his seasons at Louisiana where he greatly overachieved compared to their historical baseline.

Holeeeee crap, this is a horrible list.
No logical reasoning whatsoever.

Freeze way too high.

This might be the worst list I have ever seen...on any subject.

"Because of his seasons at Louisiana where he greatly
overachieved compared to their historical baseline."
His record at UF clearly removes him though...you are not a top 25 coach if you have a .500 record at Florida(8-13 in SEC play).
He sucks..it is very clear to everyone but UF fans apparently..500 is absolutely horrible at UF.

I think they picked the top 30 then hit randomize or inverted them. All for clicks.

This is like getting mad at ESPN for FPI or SP+. Bill Connelly just made a model and this happened to be the mathematical output. And the reason that this was the output is because of Napier's Louisiana years surpassing their historical baseline boosted his score considerably. That is what I am trying to convey. Bill Connelly isn't subjectively ranking any of these coaches directly. You could say the model sucks and he needs to adjust it and we would agree with each other.
The graphic misrepresents it as his opinion of the best coaches, but that is not the case. This seems to just be his first (flawed) attempt to try to quantify coach ability. That is really difficult to do.
