DeVonta Smith was always seen as the "lesser" of the Big Four in 2018 and 2019. He was smaller and seemingly not as fast. Yet he might have been the most gifted route runner of them all. He had a knack for getting open and catching the football when a play was needed. He might not have been the most talented receiver in our conference, but you cannot deny the swag he accumulated while at Alabama:

Heisman Trophy
Maxwell Award
Walter Camp Award
Fred Biletnikoff Award
AP College Football Player of the Year
Sporting News College Football Player of the Year
SEC Offensive Player of the Year
SEC Male Athlete of the Year
Unanimous 1st Team All-American
1st Team All-SEC
CFP National Championship Game Offensive MVP

And the first of the two to win a Super Bowl.

Also he has two national championships, one more than LSU’s best

No more buying players from Amite, boys. That's been remedied.

We've been doing it for years. Saban just found the Louisiana players who wanted to leave that godforsaken state for greener pastures.

Collins, Robinson, Lacy, Smith. Hell, Robby Green ending the 09 game with a pick.

LSU fans hate Alabama because all those players beat LSU and won titles in the process.

Congrats to Devonta. He’s earned it and seems to be a great guy, easy to root for.

A lot of Louisiana kids stayed in their home state and won championships at LSU in 2003, 2007, and 2019. That’s more than any other school can claim with the exception of Alabama. Several Alabama kids left the state to win at LSU, like
Jamarcus Russell
Kenneth Hollis
Brandon Washington
Chevis Jackson
Phelon Jones (won rings at LSU and Bama I believe)
JD Lott
Sidell Corley
Peter Parrish
Cordale Flott
Avery Atkins
Desmond Little
Jakori Savage
Neil Farrell Jr
Justin Thomas

Thank God for Shula or else the last 15 years would hurt way more.

Agreed, it would have been a terrible run for Alabama.
Now that Saban is retired, the Shula era is the most likely ceiling for that program.

As an aside I hate the Julio never got a ring. He was the best receiver on earth for a bit and deserved better.

You forgot to mention that Nick Saban has gone on record to say that he considers Jamarcus Russell one of his all-time best recruiting wins in his career. And he was from the state of Alabama.
