Milam did slow down when he saw the throw to third. Who knows. You still have to try.

I don't get it either, they gave us an extra out and we killed them with it.

Especially since the runner going to 3rd didn’t mean anything. It’s a 2 run game.

LSU gave them an extra out twice in the 8th and it similarly caught them.

First basemen fields ball 35 feet from first base instead of covering bag. Second basemen is in position for a 4-3. Crazy throw to pitcher late covering and Curiel is on 2nd.
Had that been a 4-3 out. After Frey’s walk… Miliam’s routine grounder would have been a 6-4-3. There would have never been a decision to throw to 3rd for a force….
Also: Curiel’s run didn’t matter. Why go to 3rd.

I feel for that SS. That is right up there with Wade Boggs. He did not boot it but it looked like it could have been an easy double play to end the game. At the least the runner at 2nd would have been out. Runners at the corner with 2 outs. Just a strange play.
