To have a single championship game in a round robin double elimination tournament? Why doesnt the team coming from the losers bracket have to beat the undefeated team twice?

They do have to beat the 2-0 team twice… it’s a double elimination format
TV always calls the first game “regional championship game” even though technically it’s only the championship possible game for one team

So whoever wins this Cincinnati-wake forest plays Tennessee tonight and if they beat tennessee they play again tomorrow?

I understand the confusion though for someone that doesn’t watch CBB postseason often because TV always calls the first game “regional championship game” even though technically it’s only the championship possible game for one team. They present it as a championship game

Thank you sir. The way the scheduling is show doesn't mention a "if necessary" game like most do. I thought whoever won at 6 tonight was the winner and that was it.

That is correct. Tv Station markets it a certain way to attract viewers.

Back in the day on the only way you could get eliminated with only 1 loss was in omaha and if you made the championship game. Now its a 3 game series for the title. So no matter what level, regionals, supers and cws you have to lose twice to be eliminated

Omaha is the same format… 4-team regional on both sides before championship series

They didn’t used to do it that way. Back in 1989 for example Texas went undefeated into the CWS finals but lost one game to Wichita State who had come out of the losers bracket, and that was it. Soon after they changed the format to a true double-elimination including the finals, and then they made it a best 2 out of 3 for the final two teams.

What's your definition of "soon"?
It was way over a decade later before they changed it to best 2 of 3.
