Normally, this would not warrant a post on the SEC Rant; it would belong exclusively on the Movie/TV Board or even the O-T Lounge. However, 30 years ago, Gene Hackman played Captain Ramsey - the commanding officer of the USS Alabama (SSBN-731). And in that film he gave an impassioned speech about the qualities of that fine state that has gone on to appear in quite a few highlight videos featuring Alabama Sports:

Rip to a legend.

Of all the great roles Hackman played, that was not one.

Sports movie wise, he is obviously best remembered for Hoosiers.

Mere face of this character became disturbing. As in revile and taint the scene an elevated performance.

Personally, probably my favorite Gene Hackman movie was Bat *21, but he had so many other great roles that could be lumped into consideration as well.

EASILY my top favorite Gene Hackman movie scene was from the initial Hickory Huskers team walk-though in Hinkle Fieldhouse from Hoosiers
