Saturday during game day it was mentioned through some cryptic talk. I didn't think that much about it until I saw this video. They did mention it during game day from what I remember.

Haven’t heard but have said if the SEC expands more the teams I want are UNC, Kansas, West Virginia, and VT/or Virginia. It’s all about TV markets. Plus still keeps us mostly regional to South and south east.

We good at 16. I would only take UNC if TAMU leaves or we boot Mizzu.

Expansion is coming. 4 super conferences of at least 20 teams. They will probably break off into a separate division of college athletics as far as football goes.

Imagine these divisions…

East
Virginia/VaTech
UNC
WV
USCe
UGA
AU
UT
UF
bammer
Vandy/UK

West
Ole Miss
Miss state
LSU
Arky
Mizzou
aTm
UTa
Okie
Kansas
Vandy/UK

Have you figured out out which team between UK and Vandy plays in the East or west.

9 game conference schedule within your division in football. The winners of the divisions play for title.

In basketball you play a 19 game conference schedule 1 game against each team. Best record wins the title with tie breakers of head to head etc for ties.

As a new blood to basketball the additions will continue the dominance of SEC basketball. Basketball can be a huge money making revenue stream.

I agree that the top football schools are going to break from the NCAA, and probably sooner than later. But it will result in fewer teams per conference, or what will then be known as divisions. Probably roughly 8 teams per division, but at least 5 and no more than 10.

Not gonna happen the TV markets drive the football economy. That’s why the SEC will expand to “state” fan bases.

Nothing suggests moving to smaller conferences. Granted I think only about 50 of the 80 teams that probably settle into the final P4 can sustain economically in football. Championship level programs will be around 20.

Basketball is entirely different big TV contracts especially with players staying to be a feeder league for the NBA. Plus the cost for basketball is much lower for the schools to fund. Look at the investments the SEC has pushed toward the schools. That didn’t happen for no reason. That’s why in the next expansion I think the conference pushed for “basketball schools”. UNC Kansas Virginia… with West Virginia the exception.

Just my opinion but think that’s where we are headed

There won’t be “conferences” (per se), there will be divisions. It will be modeled on the NFL, only slightly larger. I’m going to say about 80 schools; roughly 10 divisions with 8 teams each. Or 8 with 10 teams each. Approximately. It will get political as midnight approaches and a few heavy hitters realize their school is about to get left out and the numbers will shift a little.

It’s not about TV markets anymore. Streaming changed that. (I’m not saying TV isn’t where the money is coming from. It certainly is. But now it’s less about capturing geographically populated areas than it was 20 years ago.)

So I’m going to say in 10 years that’s what we have. A mini-NFL.

That’s what I think, anyway.

Streaming is eyes on TVs or tablets. Same economic plan. It’s about as revenue either on cable, streaming, or however it’s watched.

We said the same thing. 80 teams. I have them in 4 larger conferences with 2 divisions. You have them in 8-10 divisions.

No. ESPN owns their a**es until 2036, and even then, everyone and their mother would prefer the SEC over the B1G, and if the conference can get its act together, the ACC over both. The Locked On podcasts are only fishing for clicks.
