There's a pretty solid consensus on this board that it takes 3 national championships to equal a dynasty. The amount of seasons in between titles is a little fuzzy, but I roll with 3 national titles within a span of 7 years, but you can't become a dynasty until the the year after your third national championship (AP national championship). And after that, the three-in-seven clock re-starts. Based on this, Georgia is on the clock for the next four seasons.
Also based on that, it makes you realize how epic the Saban dynasty was at Alabama. Twice as long as the next longest dynasty!
Alabama - 2013-2022
Miami - 1990-1993
Notre Dame - 1948-1952
Oklahoma - 1957
Alabama - 1965-1967
Minnesota - 1941-1942

Does 2009-2012 Alabama get its own dynasty?

Your parameters are off. Bryant and Saban were both virtually continuous dynasties, with brief interludes of “mediocrity.” Bryant from ‘61-‘79. Saban from ‘09-‘20. Wallace Wade from ‘25-‘30 counts as well.

It's all incredibly subjective buddy and it ain't exact science. Feel free to come up with your own. I went with 3 national titles in a span of 7 years, and you can't become a dynasty until after your third title. For example, was anyone calling the Kansas City Chiefs a dynasty last year or the year before that or the year before that?

They like 1 title during that 4 year period

3 titles in fairly close proximity seems fair as long as there isn't much in the way of down years mixed in. If a team won a national title, then wen 6-6, then won another national title, then had 3 7-win seasons, then won a third... it might not really feel like it should count.
if UGA wins the title this year, I think that qualifies them as a dynasty from at least 2021-2024. Their one national title miss in that stretch would be a 1-loss season.

That’s fine, but when you win a NC in ‘61 and end with another one in ‘79 with four more in between, that’s an 18-year dynasty.

Since 18 national title game, played for 3 won 2 is enough but if we win it all this year it solidifies it

Nah, I think winning 3 is a minimum for me.
But if UGA did in any time in the next 3 playoffs, that would be fine. Doesn't have to be this year.

They won the title in ‘89 and split with Washington in ‘91. Are you including their title in ‘87?

Say what you want, What Bowden and FSU did from 1987 thru 2001 was and is a “Dynasty”!

If Georgia wins this season, we'll be golden for a few years. Chiefs have won 3 in 4, and nobody is about to stop calling them a dynasty if they don't win another one this year or next year.

That's fine too, but you're talking about 13 straight seasons without a national championship during that stretch. That's a long arse time.

Dynasties always get labeled in retrospect and (in my opinion) always begin and end with a championship.
Bama was really good a couple of times after 2020... but I think at this point we can call their dynasty as lasting from 2009-2020.
That's an incredibly long period for a dynasty and won 6 titles in 12 years which is also incredible. But you don't stretch it until 2021 or 2023 even though they made the championship game in 2021 and the playoff in 2023... you always begin and end with a title.
If UGA wins a title this year, they have a dynasty that lasted from 2021-2024. If they win another one in 2027 it would stretch until then. If they didn't it would end in 2024. If they don't win this year but win next year it would be a dynasty from 2021-2025.

2 years doesn't make a dynasty. Neither does one, as you've also included.

I understand you are saying the dynasty doesn’t start until after you win 3 NCs but it just looks weird to say the Bama/Saban dynasty started 2013 after the most dominant part of it (3 in 4 years from 2009-2012).
