That's 3 UGA winners of that award in the last 7 years. Somebody is doing something right.

What’s incredible is those 3 are the only guys in UGA history to have won it
• Nakobe Dean
• Roquan Smith
• Jalon Walker

Other finalists since just 2002:
• Jamon Dumas Johnson
• Leonard Floyd
• Jarvis Jones
• Justin Houston
• Rennie Curran
• Odell Thurman
• Boss Bailey
…and Thomas Davis was the Nagurski finalist

Don’t have intel from 1985, when t was instituted, through 2001.

After watching him do his thing twice this year, (and pieces of other games) I can't argue anyone else should get the Butkus.

Not trying to be a dick, but did he play in the Alabama game?

I don't remember a stud LB from that night.

Yeah, but he dindu nuffin’. 3 assisted tackles and 1 solo.

Had a lot of games with pedestrian stat lines actually, which I guess folks thought was not indicative of his talent when he decides to take over.

Similar to JDJ or Jarvis Jones in that respect

Wrong. Butkus is for LBs only

LBU?
Maybe.

You’ll find it interesting that the co-LB coach is Chidera Uzo-Diribe, who UGA pulled off of Dyke’s staff after being with him at SMU (and at that lame purple school in the cow town to your west)

I stand corrected. I don't know why I remember him being a LB. Honest mistake. He good though.

The Truth adds:

RB U
K/P U
TE U

The Truth smiles smugly and waits for the seething Dawg haters to come argue these uncontestable facts.

Fun Fact: Every linebacker who has started a game under Kirby Smart at Georgia has played in the League. LBU. Go Dawgs.

From what I read the D scheme we played him in that night was opposite what they let him do vs. UTx

It played to his weakness and he didn't have as much impact.
