They are deserving. Bama is not. Any rational cfb fan knows this. If they do this teams will start refusing to play conference championships.

What makes SMU deserving? They've played one of the worst SOS in the country. They had a chance and failed (again) to get their first ranked win of the season tonight. Seems they can't beat ranked teams, but we're supposed to put them in the playoffs against ranked teams? Doesn't seem that deserving to me.

In this chart, SMU will fit in right above Miami with a SOS higher than 60, 0-2 vs ranked teams and 0 unranked losses.
The only argument people are making for SMU is an emotional argument because "they tried real hard" against the #17 team in the country.
