LSU was technically the home team for this game. Actually they were the designated home team, even though the game was in Arizona State's stadium.

understood, but that's like making a team the designated home team in Tiger Stadium (or anybody else stadium)..you are still only give a certain amount of tickets...the "home" won't have as many fans as the "away" team in their stadium

1)
the weakness in the PAC 10 as opposed to the SEC does not necessarily lie in the top 2-3 teams, but in the fact that beyond that, there are usually no strong teams ...thus, the top teams do not have the same risk in playing week-in / week-out.
If a PAC10 teams has some injuries, they usually get a week, maybe two for healing before it is ABSOLUTELY necessary to play that player...
that luxury does not exist in the SEC.

2)
"Records" do not mean much if the level of the opposition is not taken into consideration.

3)
They do not play a Conference Championship game, which, in the SEC, can be very close to the NC Game level...thus avoiding a possible loss also.
(Yes, I know, they play everyone in their conference, but in the SEC, the BEST TWO TEAMS may have to meet for a second time as well)
