Glad he chose the good guys and ended up in a much better spot.

Sometimes players get missed during a coaching change

But they didn't miss the other RBs they signed during the coaching change

Will never blame someone from the BR area for not wanting to go to school in BR. LSU is much different than Baton Rouge but it’s still in Baton Rouge. There’s a whole world out there and free college is a great opportunity to see something new.

LSU missed on Le'veon Moss from Baton Rouge too. As for Sampson, his offer sheet wasn't very impressive. He was undervalued by basically everyone. His other P5 offers were Purdue, Arkansas, Cal, Colorado, Duke, Indiana, State, NC State, Northwestern, USCe, Vandy, and Wake. Moss had offers from basically everyone and wanted to go to LSU but LSU never offered for whatever reason. Definitely not great to miss on both of those guys in your evals given how thin the RB room is currently.

They didn't sign any that cycle.
Sampson wasn't offered by the previous staff and committed to Tennessee over the summer. BK's staff had maybe a week before he signed with Tennessee and they had much bigger needs than running back.

Wasn't Warrick Dunn from BR also? How did he get away, I loved watching him at FSU when I was a pup.

WUT? the only running backs that got any meaningful playing time this year are:
John Emery - signed in 2019 class
Josh Williams - Former walk-on
Caden Durham - True Freshman
We completely missed with RB recruiting in 2021 & 2022.

What are you talking about? We offered and wanted Moss. Jimbo dropped a bigger bag.

Yes. He got away for 2 reasons. 1. LSU was terrible at the time. LSU lost a ton of studs from LA back then; 2. His mother was killed in the line of duty (she was a cop) and he wanted to get away

Wow. Didn't realize number two, sorry to hear that. He was a heck of a player.

We did too. Might have even been committed to us at one point?

BATON ROUGE, La. (BRPROUD) — A Louisiana death row inmate convicted in the murder of a police officer who was the mother of former NFL player Warrick Dunn was denied a clemency hearing Monday.
Henri Broadway, 53, who was arrested at 22 years old in 1993, has denied being involved in the crime, according to his clemency application.
On January 7, 1993, a supermarket store manager and Cpl. Betty Smothers was shot. Smothers, a mother to six children, died in the shooting. Broadway was convicted of first-degree murder and sentenced to death by an East Baton Rouge Parish jury.

LSU program was pretty bad when Dunn came out of high school, he was never going to LSU at that time, it was about like the Tennessee program the last 20 years or so
LSU wanted Moss but Aggies bought him like they did several other LA prospects
Sampson flew under the radar in high school, late bloomer, wasn't as big as he is now either, once he hit a college weight program he was able to improve and it's not like he blew up as a fr in college
