He was asked a question about Texas so this sounds like an easy mistake. Why all the big worry about a team thats already lost 6 games this season? Is Hugh going to decide to start coaching this week?

Elko is a boob and this is the best season he will have at A&M. The next two will trend downward and the coaching search will be on again.

You have a very negative attitude towards Elko and A&M football. It’s on the extreme side, and causes you to make silly comments about people like Elko, who are generally well respected.

This guy is trying to coach a football team, not be the best talker. He’s not a politician.
I think press conferences are the bane of their existence for most coaches. If they weren’t contractually-obligated I think most coaches would avoid having 2-3 press conferences every week.
Mostly because of people doing what the OP and several other did in this thread - take things out of context, scrutinize every response, get into minutiae, etc…
For the most part, coaches get absolutely nothing out of it. It’s a time suck that keeps them from doing other things they need to do.

Wait it out, I'm in no hurry. Next year when you have 3-4 losses at this time, just telling you why.
Elko is not Texas A&M standard. But this is yall's kitchen, not mine.

But funny how that all works out for the good ones, yes? Not just in football coaches, but Directors, Managers, etc in anything.
He's rattled, he's stressed, he's in over his head, he can't articulate, and his players yell frick you on a repeat loop. Brain surgeon? Hell no.
