It is baffling how bad we are inside of the 20 yd line. Guiness book level of incompetence.

Yea, these 2 stats will help negate the original one in the OP

Turnover Margin vs P4 Teams (out of 68)
65. Oklahoma (-1.13)
66. NC State (-1.14)
66. Auburn (-1.14)
68. Florida St (-1.25)

Red Zone Score % (out of 68)
65. Nebraska (66.7%)
66. Northwestern (65.2%)
67. Houston (64.3%)
68. Auburn (62.5%)

Worst and 2nd worst in the country at 2 things that turn lots of yards into 0 points.

The fact that we have lost two games despite this metric is baffling

Both losses specifically had similar earmarks to Auburn's issues - red zone scoring and turnovers. Screw those up more than 1 or 2 times and all the yardage domination in the world gets thrown out the window.
