Hell! Wouldn't Shula have played in the championship game in 2005 if Alabama had been eligible?

Umm, 2007 & 2019 beg to differ. Oh, and despite the last game, 2011 was pretty damn strong.

No. Both teams were 7-1 in the conference and LSU won the head-to-head. The fact that Bama was undefeated going into that game is irrelevant.
