When will Auburn look at moving on from Hugh Freeze?

Retaining him because of recruiting… however his coaching these past 2 years has not been great at all… Has Auburn not learned anything about this from A&M and Jimbo?
Freeze watched Diego Pavia more than any coach in the SEC, watched him beat his team in person TWICE and didn’t think to recruit him? Guess taking a QB from New Mexico State would hurt Auburn’s reputation and Freeze ego too much. Pavia said it yesterday, they overlooked him.

Freeze's recruiting has always been about the $ - even long before NIL.

When they can afford it

WHy should auburn want to move on? They are about where they are supposed to be.

Auburn should at least stick with him through the 2025 season.

I hope they give him an extension.

The only positive with Freeze beating Saban back to back back in the day was AU hiring him for that reason.

Even with his "bad coaching"haters are parading around here, he still held Vandy to less points than all these great coaches he's being compared to. Had his QB not been overthrowing open WRs or his kicker not been hurt then the Offense would have been fine.

His contract negotiation is a rare instance of Auburn getting something right. If we did fire him, we would not owe a lump sum. The contract allows us to make monthly payments through the term of the agreement. It’s very favorable to the university, so yes we could fire him.
Having said that, no way is Auburn going to fire Freeze and hire its fourth coach in five years. If recruiting continues to go well, it will get somewhat better, but I don’t believe at all that Freeze is the right guy. Of the most embarrassing home losses in all of Auburn history, Freeze has to own at least 2 or 3 of them. A season and a half into this “experiment”.
If there is not significant progress next season, he will be shown the door. We are looking at 3-9 at the worst or 4-8 best case scenario for this season. That is unacceptable.

If Auburn loses their remaining games which includes the UL Monroe Warhawks then don't be surprised if they pull the plug.

That QB you're pointing out overthrowing wide open receivers yesterday, is the same one from last year.
Bad QB play = losing records.
Freeze had the $$$ to get a winner at QB.
On Freeze for settling with Thorne.

Plus other HCs would just snatch up the good players we have left and the next coach would have to rebuild. We would never get a good HC recycling the last few coaches (minus Gus).

If that happens, I think the competition will be favorable for us. We will have to contend with Florida for coaching candidates, but I don’t see another opening in the SEC. As far as candidates, I don’t see a lot of great ones. Maybe Rhett Lashlee gets a look? Maybe Glenn Schumann or Jon Sumrall?

quote:Yes that is on Freeze. But there hasn't been a single QB that he could have definitely gotten. Auburn was on the list of several QBs in the portal and signed a top 10 HS QB. The Portal guys didn't want to come to a school with a top HS kid and a returning Starter at that point.

Wow, now even the old school Barners are doing it !

You might be able to afford the firing of Freeze, but you’ll have to gamble on a cheap G5 coach to replace him with…again.

Freeze is going to need 3-4 more years to get his guys in place. Auburn won’t make the same mistake that they made with Gus. Gus would have won multiple nattys by now had they not pulled the trigger so soon.

Little did they know that Freeze’s wins against Bama were the results of an inexperienced Blake Sims and Cooper Bateman at QB.
