@Cocks, which is your D better equipped for?

Reed (Read Option QB)
Weigman (Pocket Passer)
Obviously Weigman has had trouble against competent defenses this season but.. in a scenario where you have to choose between facing a solid read option QB or a solid pure passer, which would your defense handle better?
I think it's possible y'all see both (Reed and Weigman) this Saturday but I'm just curious which scheme you'd rather face with your defense?

And yes, I took Aggie liberties with this thread title.

Our pass rush is NASTY. But we go against two Zone Read QB's everyday.
Basically, A&M is screwed.

I know Kyle Kennard had a couple of sacks on Milroe when they played Bama. He is def their best pass rusher and seems like he could handle either RPO or traditional pocket passer.

Got ya, sounds like you're much better equipped than Mizzou or LSU.
I think our best ceiling on offense is a run first into play action passing team, but Reed isn't there yet from a downfield accuracy stand point and Weigman hasn't shown any type of consistency to make us believe he will get us there against good defenses.
This will be an interesting game Saturday.

If y'all can score a lot of points, you probably win.

Our defenders have been blowing up the mesh point all season.

And the Coup De Grace All 9 sacks vs Oklahoma. As a side note, the 9 sacks were with 9 different players.

USC has a lot of really good players in defense.
At home, they will be a tough out.

If we go with Weigman, it's going to have to be 2 reads, then (maybe) a checkdown. Our OL isn't good enough for 5-step drops with 4 reads.

I don’t think there is any way Connor is effective against SC based on the LSU game. He missed tons of open guys when he faced pressure and played scared.

Tell me you're an Aggie without telling me.

Wegman will have a tough time as a pocket passer. SC's defense is aggressive in the front four. Kennard hogs a lot of the press, but the tackles are excellent, and maintain gap integrity very well. The secondary is opportunistic and seeks the ball. It's possible to exploit their aggression, however, and find lapses in coverage.
Reed, as a running threat, will need extra attention from the LBs. Kennard and Stewart will have to set the edge and force him back inside, vs letting him get out on the edge.
To me, this game comes down purely to TOs, field position, and a handful of explosive plays. I don't think either team can mount sustained, 75 yard drives against the other. Short fields are key. Whoever gets more of those is going to win.
We also don't have much faith in our place kicker past 30 yards. How is aTm's field goal unit?
