Big12 is where they throw things on the field.

Texas tech is the master at it. They throw tortillas on the field in protest or at opposing players or coaches.
My point is this is behavior Texas believes is legitimate and okay to do because they have allowed other teams to do it to them.
We need change behavior of students here. A fine won’t work. Suspend their alcohol sales for two games.

Agree it was classless and childish by Texas students to throw crap onto the field. Zero excuse.
FWIW Ole Miss was fined for the same thing last year. So not just a “Big 12” thing but more of a drunk fan thing. And I’d bet this was mostly from the student section as well:

So Texas will likely have to pay a fine and I agree that any liquor sales should be suspended. Just no place for this stuff.

Ole Miss coeds typically toss Jimmy Choo pumps on the field.
Pretty red ones.

I agree. Which is why the fans should suffer. Not the school or the team. No alcohol for two games. You can’t handle alcohol then no alcohol for you. After 2 games we can try it again.
Fining Texas does nothing to the people who did it. There’s also the potential of banning individuals with video evidence. The school should be required to video their students in case this is needed.
This isn’t the Big12. You don’t run this conference. I think they made Tennessee video students and ban them.

And yet…
They still haven't fixed the flopping, which was and still is a big, sad problem.
Maybe if we all pulled together to do the same thing something good might be done about it.

Texas Tech and tortillas, you can deal with that.
They have done far worse… Throwing goal posts at opposing fans?

It’s part of Texas Tech game day experience. They pack in tortillas and frisbee toss them on the field several times a game. If you’ve ever been to Lubbock it seems about right.

I agree it’s be good for SEC to lay the hammer down on Texas and make a point. For the purpose you stated as well as, frankly, the safety of Texas players moving forward. I expect they’ll be booed mercilessly and the targets, with drunk fans wanting to subject them to the same thing Georgia players had to deal with.
I really don’t understand why there wasn’t an unsportsmanlike penalty called. They used to do that all the time in SWC, even for excessive crowd noise. I remember being in Kyle field for 1987 game and Texas QB couldnt call signals it was so loud, so refs gave fans a warning. Which makes no sense to me now but, again, throwing crap on the field should have immediate affect against home team. As well as what you’ve suggested

Yes, I remember the crowd noise penalties. And they took our cowbells away…

Tortillas are thrown for the Fiesta Bowl just like Big Eight schools used to throw oranges on the field for the Orange Bowl
