Bob and recruiting

Just asking because I don't know. Is Bobo still considered an A+ recruiter? I'm just wondering why we aren't targeting more elite WR's like Bama does. I know we recruited Raiola but then he flipped. Did Bob actually recruit Murray, Gurley, Marshall, or any of the other elite guys Richt had or was that all Richt? I don't recall he really changed the landscape with recruiting at Colorado State.

We are recruiting them. They don't want to play in our offense and we don't want to pay them top dollar because they are the position that is most likely to be prima donnas. I don't think he's the ace recruiter that he was the first time though.

Georgia has had one wide receiver finish in the top 10 in the SEC in yards per game and none in the top 50 nationally since Kirby got here. Negative recruiting. Recruits are told that they'll never be the man at Georgia, and they're probably right.

Sounds silly but Bowers and McConkey need to spend time with our guys teaching them how to separate.... When they can fit it in to their schedule.
Same a Gurley, best vision ever and I think he taught Chubb and Michele. He would make an awesome rb coach. He got 110% out of the body he was given.

High end QBs and WRs cost a lot of money. Don’t think the recruiter makes much difference.

thanks for the feedback. I think the 5 star elite WR's don't want to play in this offense and 2nd are prima donnas. Saban ran the same offense but I guess around 2015 he changed his offensive mindset and starting hiring OC's that ran wide open offenses. It just seems Bobo isn't regarding as the ace recruiter he once was. I wonder how much of that was really Richt. I've met both guys personally and Richt has a powerful presence. I only met Bobo in just after college, but he seemed like more of a good ole boy; real jovial and personable though.

I don't recall bobo ever being known as some hotshot elite recruiter. He had a very impressive and solid track record at QB development though.

I mean...most a school's pre-NIL recruiting prowess in general is going to be tied back to the HC. There are other situations where a position coach is elite at recruiting that particualr postiion (like Pittman with OL for isntace) but overall it's almost always the HC.

just ignoring the fact that this is crazy becuase they are now in the NFL..but what exactly woudl they teach them? The coaches that "taught" bowers and mconckey are still at UGA teaching the current people.

Put him on the staff as a RB assistant or something...His name is still known and you'd have to think that may sway a few

Gurley, Bowers, Walker, are the only GA players in my lifetime who could just will a touchdown to happen. That's not coaching, they are different.
That said, all 3 had great vision on the field and determination to score. Our wrs are not separating and our backs aren't seeing the field well currently.

It is often very difficult for great players to effectively coach. How do you explain and teach field vision when it always came naturally to you?

Yeah, Kirby has really run the program into the ground.

OL being pretty underwhelming so far hasn’t helped with that. Very hard to establish the run game when they’re not consistently controlling the line of scrimmage and creating holes.
