I don’t know about that one by Heupel.

I mean anything could have happened with those horrible center QB shotgun snaps that were occurring.

Plus you had a backup QB and RB in the game for Arkansas.

I hope for a FG and then try to win it on a FG

Don’t forget … back-up kicker too (arguably most important)

And back-up… to a kicker that is a bad kicker.

As a pig fan, coming down to a FG was my biggest worry.

we should have fallen down at the 3 yard line on purpose and run the clock down

posted this on the msb.

Going into the final drive. Tenn had 273 total yards of offense.
Tenn qb was 16/25 for 116 yards.

Usually I’d agree but as has been said, you’re dealing with a backup kicker. Even on what’s basically just a PAT, who knows how they are going to perform in that situation.

Arky was inside the 10 with a first down and a little over a minute on the clock. That is a oretty high percentage kick. I thought it was the right move. BUT, I don’t know what Heupel was saving the TOs for in the final minutes.

Did anyone from UT actually admit this? I know it was speculated based on the “effort” to tackle. That can be misleading, otherwise Bama let Vandy score often with our “effort”.

Heupel is a bad coach
That’s not the only loss they will have this season
Plenty more to come

I mean there's a difference between poor effort and just standing there.

The backup kicker had already made a XP and a chip shot FG. Arkansas could have bled the clock all the way down and kicked the FG on the final play. Without gaining another yard, it was going to be a 28 yard chip shot. Heupel thought his best chance was getting the ball back for his offense.

Agreed, questionable decision by Heupel given how poorly his offense had played and how bad our kicking situation is this season. It’s not as if it was a back-and-forth scoring fest.

Plus, we have not been good in the red zone this season, and our kicking situation is unreliable to say the least. They still had the opportunity for a blocked or missed FG.

Ya, I'll take my odds on a glorified extra point over giving them the ball with 1:15 and 2 timeouts

If Heupel was a winner, it would have worked. But he’s not, and that’s why we fired his fat arse

I just think after watching every snap with Arkansas back up QB being an opportunity for a turnover, I would have tried to stop them.

Plus Nico looked deer in the headlights all night last night.

It was perfect. The fake effort was just enough to force the QB into the end zone quickly instead of running clock or kneeling at the 3 to close out the game. Worked out perfect. UT got multiple shots at the end zone for chances to win the game. Great coaching.

I think with timeouts Tennessee could have had 30-40 seconds to get in FG range for game winner.

But I haven’t run the numbers on the clock and time outs I’ll be honest

He obv thought he could stop the clock with 0:01 and a first down. UT just got beat. I didn’t see anything to complain about.
