I've heard/read nothing about him since he was cut in August. Any of you know his status?

he wasnt accurate enough to make it in the NFL. I'm sure he has moved on.

I’m sure he hasn’t. You think he just gave up on his dream after a couple months of not being on a roster? Several teams will be needing new kickers over the course of the season

Join a gym, get a personal trainer, food plan and get back down to his Freshman weight of 220lbs. Thicker kicker was cute at Mizzou, time to be the Fitter Kicker and go back to being a complete weapon like his 1st year at Mizzou. His lightest weight and best year.

What's sad is his brother did the exact same thing to his NFL career. Both could get their careers on track with some weight loss.

Moved on = not on a roster so found something else to do with his time.

I'm sure he'll always answer the call but his FG% wasn't really "elite." He had a knack for high pressure, late game kicks but the NFL looks for perfect kickers. He had multiple missed short FGs in his past. His leg isn't quite strong enough for what the NFL likes. He was a long shot to make it.

How does a guy who made more long kicks than anyone I can think of not have a strong enough leg?

He has plenty of leg for the NFL. Pinero is one of the most accurate kickers in league history. Eddy made more kicks than Mevis in camp.

His limit was 62 yards. Most of the NFL kickers are easily good from 65+ yards.

That's why there's 16 total kicks over 60 yds in league history. C'mon man. The guy that beat Mevis out would have to kick the ball twice to get 65 yds off the turf and over the defensive line. Its about accuracy.

Venom is dead on it. He works on his body and gets in league shape the accuracy will come.

You do so well at trying to be educated and informative and then you go off the reservation and post stuff like this.

Eddie was hitting 80 yd FGs in practice in college.

Regardless, lets be clear. I did not say Mevis was cut because his leg was inadequate. He was cut because of his inaccuracy and didn't have enough leg to make up for it.

His career long is 56 for a reason. Having equipment on and kicking over an outstretched line matters.

Because that is the longest kick he has made in a game. His leg is about 15-18 yards longer than Mevis. Most of the NFL starting kickers have legs 10+ longer than Mevis. I'd avoid admitting to your false claim on Eddie's leg strength too, if I were you. That was rather embarrassing.

If you are asking me why the NFL teams value length when they rarely try it in games, go ask them, not me. I dont have an effing clue why they do what they do. They pass on guys like Schraeder for unknown reasons.

Pretty crazy someone with no clue knows more about an NFL kicker than you do, isn't it? Maybe you should admit you had no clue, too. Nah...your narcissism would never allow that, right?

If you knew so much, you'd know he missed to full seasons to injury and hasn't had the same leg whip since. But please tell me how much you know about what Pinero is capable of doing in 2024 with his pads on. The fans in Charlotte were praying Mevis would take the job.

You are a bad take machine.

I dont really have takes, I present data. Pinero's leg strength has been normal the last 2 years according to himself and coaches. I'm sure you know more than them, though. Right? You always do. Hint, that is your narcissism again.

a video from 2017 kicking in gym shorts, in doors isn't presenting data when talking about 2024.

He missed the last two games of 2023 with a hamstring injury and missed time in camp with the same. It hasn't been normal since and his accuracy was affected by it last year. He missed 7 total kicks last year between FGs and XPs.

Our freshman kicker nailed that 51 yarder and it would have been good from 10-20 yards further. He just needs more consistency

So all of these kickers could be kicking 65 yard field goals all day long, but the coaches don't want them to?
Where were all these kickers in college? I don't recall many kickers over the years being relied on for 50+ yards.
