Interesting enough he says we are more complex than last year, however it is apparent watching just the defensive plays we are inviting Wisconsin to run and check it down all game.

quote:i dont think we are more complex in so far as what we are asking the guys to do (less so actually), but i think the end result of all the different things the guys are doing and keying off of individually and together might make it harder to predict what we are going to do based on alignment. The other year Hueppel knew exactly what each bama defender was going to do based on the alignments, what they showed presnap etc, so he was able to exploit the more rigid rules of what saban ran and attack where that player wasnt going to be. We are more relying on letting guys play fast with more generalized rules that i think are probably easier to figure out but harder to exploit.

I would need him to clarify what he means by more complex because at face value that’s a nonsense take.
The entire new system is predicated on simplifying the coverage reads for the defensive players and attacking rather than responding reactively.
To me the story of the game defensively is whether UGA can gash us in the run game without Ratledge due to the one gap approach and whether our secondary allows UGA to convert the big plays that’ve been there for any competent QB so far despite what looks like a lack of explosive players outside for UGA.

It may be more complex from the offense's perspective while simpler from the defense's perspective.
