We just all bought in to the system. And we all bought in to what it takes to prepare to have our offense -- our rule is to just to be the No. 1 offense in the SEC.

When asked to clarify if he thinks Kentucky's tempo is faster than Tennessee's, Mincey said, "Probably a little faster, we going to see on Saturday, probably a little faster, we're going to try to really push the tempo".
"Us just buying into the offseason training and to what the coaches have for us, we're going to shock the world, best believe it," added Mincey.

to do, with our technique and our fundamentals, we'll move anybody off the ball," said Mincey. "That don't matter if it's Kentucky's defense (in practice), Bama's defense, Tennessee's defense, we're just going to go out there and play hard."

Mincey has exuded confidence all offseason since arriving in Lexington -- especially when it comes to playing his former teammates in Knoxville (he's talked a lot of trash since transferring from Tennessee).
Talking season ends this weekend. It's time to deliver on the promises that were made during the offseason. For Mincey, that includes the promise he made in January that was directed at his former teammates.
"So when we go there Nov. 2 to Neyland and we bust them in the mouth, we can put the standard back over here."

This is like the family chihuahua that thinks it’s the alpha.
I appreciate the attitude, but no one believes it.

2023 offensive plays per game:
#36 Tennessee - 71.5 ppg
#82 Boise St. - 67.5 ppg
#133 Kentucky - 56.1 ppg
To be fair...he's at his 3rd school in 4 years and his major is still Undecided...so math may not be a strong suit for him.

That's right baws, we are lighting up that scoreboard this year.
Daddy Stoops gonna hang double digits on you.
Seriously though, I expect us to come out flat as a pancake, as always, Saturday. It'll be a close game. From there the rest of the season will be better

You really have to take into consideration time of possession too. If the teams’ defenses sucked and couldn’t get off the field, less plays. Probably implies UT had better defense than Kentucky or Boise.

Who is Kentucky's tailback. Boise state's finished 11th in rushing and their Qb was a sophomore. I guess Brock is Kentucky's starting Qb

Probably everyone's goal.

To be fair our offense couldn’t go any slower so it’s all up hill from here.

Maybe...let's see.
2023 defensive plays per game:
#33. Boise St. - 63.7
#80. Tennessee - 67.5
#85. Kentucky - 67.7
First Downs Allowed Per Game
#43. Boise St. - 18.5
#49. Tennessee - 18.8
#83. Kentucky - 20.4
Not much difference number-wise...but it does look like Boise's Offense should have had MORE offensive plays than Tennessee...yet, they didn't. Kentucky's would have had slightly fewer...but they had significantly fewer.
ETA...I didn't actually speak to the question about time of possession. Here is where the offenses ranked in time of possession (so their opponent's time of possession would be inversely rated).
Offensive Time of Possession:
#29. Boise State - 31:27
#125. Kentucky - 27:20
#132. Tennessee - 25:17
To summarize...Tennessee (which was slower than the year prior after switching from Hooker to Milton) ran more offensive plays in significantly less time than both Kentucky and Boise State...yet, Mincey is convinced that Kentucky's offense will be significantly faster paced than Tennessee.
It might be that Mincey is just trying to convince himself that Kentucky will have a faster pace than Tennessee this year, rather than stating a truly objective opinion.

So far, 75 FBS teams have played a game against FBS opponents. Kentucky is 74th in number of offensive plays, at 42, while 38th in time of possession (29:56). That means they ran a play every 43 seconds of possession.
Tennessee's stats don't even show up on the pages, since they were playing an FCS school. That being said, they ran 90 plays in 29:10. That would equate to a play every 19 seconds of possession. That would mean that Tennessee ran 2 plays in the time it took Kentucky to run 1. Again...Kentucky had a much stronger opponent than Tennessee...but Kentucky's pace didn't seem to be any better than it was last season at this point.

I believe its hard to judge off that game. It was the first game for the QB and OC. The game was started 2 hours late and ended with 10minutes to go in the 3rd quarter because of lightning and rain.

Kentucky going so fast Gerald made time for a trip to the concession stand during the game.
