Knowing that most of you in Rant Land never attended the school of which your fanaticism is directed, I figured some of you might be tempted to possibly enroll in the future at your sports cathedral to increase your brain power and, thus, be able to post more articulate and sensible diatribes so that those of us who know it all can rid ourselves of those who THINK they know it all, which is very annoying to those of us who do.

This is a run on sentence. I learned good at LSU.

Big change from when I started at UGA. Back in 1996 UGA was on the quarter system and classes began AFTER the football season started.
I didn't see the first game of the year because of that (a home loss to Southern Miss, so maybe that wasn't a bad thing).

Not a run-on; just drawn-out evidence of a brain that can complete a thought that doesn't need to stop and go every three to five words, like YOU.

When I was at UGA (will not reveal the years), we were on the quarter system, too, and classes began around September 15th to the 19th.
Btw, this year UCLA doesn't begin classes until September 26th. USC used to start around the middle of September when I went there, but have now moved it up to 8/26.
High schools in Southern California used to begin well after Labor Day due to surfing season. That's all changed now as most begin in mid-to-late August.

The youngest person on this board is like 31, fwiw.
We always started the first week of women's soccer, I do remember that because I was so starved for live sports that I always went to that first game (and only that game)

There is, however, a split infinitive in the second line.

In the rain… my UGA senior year. Ugg
That was rock bottom but only slightly lower than Vandy homecoming loss 1994

Quarters for us too at Auburn back then. I liked it a lot better

I always preferred quarters to semesters. I began with quarters and finished on semesters and I had to play a little catch-up with hours because of it. Hope grant pretty much ruined college in Georgia in the mid 90s.

OP must be a transplanted yankee.
Actual southerners know that most children grew up following a college team, and was not based on where they eventually WENT to school.
College football in the south about family, about blood.

fixed your capitalization mistake after the semicolon. you also needed to add the word 'sentence', or a similar word (synonym) after 'run on' to complete the first original sentence... geaux tigers

Schools mostly teach indoctrination these days, not education.
It's quite the shame.
