This is one of those weird situations where I would be surprised if the prediction was accurate but also not surprised at the same time.

I could see anywhere from 8-4 to 10-2 and a fringe CFP contender.

Which, given my luck in predictions, means they'll finish 4-8 and fire the entire staff.

I don't even put up predictions for Missouri after screwing them for two straight seasons, so the first year I didn't predict their record, they went 11-2.

I'm just saying, if I make a prediction, take it to the bank and bet the house against me.

I'm can't, in good conscience, argue with this. We added a ton of great talent in positions of need via the portal. The problem with that is the key defenders we brought in are going to need time to mesh as a unit. It's a lot easier to come in as a position player on offense than defense and make somewhat of an immediate difference. A lot harder on defense. We need them to gel quickly.

in bad conscience.....frick, you put some SPEKT on our name. We're going 16-0 or whatever the frick it is now.

I think top 11 vs. 11 Ole Miss can compete with just about anyone but yeah they're a few injuries away from 7-5 or 8-4 certainly being on the table.

If Dart goes down during the LSU game....

LSU
Oklahoma
UGA
1 of Arky, Florida(both are away)

Never trust an unproven QB until they're proven. Dart did a better job last year avoiding hits than the year before....but we still use him massively in our run game.

I would bump the floor and ceiling both up 1 from the 8-4 to 10-2 range above and say 9-3 - 11-1. Ole Miss should be really strong, I just don't think they run the table. I would say losses to UGA and someone they shouldn't lose to like OU or Florida.

It's kinda wild that this is a sentence regarding Ole Miss. Oklahoma went like two seasons without a loss after we beat them in the '99 Indy bowl.

I don't know that 10-2 necessarily gets them in with that SOS
Let's say they lose to UGA and one other sec team, that is not an impressive resume when you look at the non conf schedule

Impossible to say without knowing the field but it's likely. Ole Miss would have gotten in twice with a 9-3 record in prior years.

Kentucky
LSU
Oklahoma
Georgia

Florida
MSU
S. Carolina are all capable too.

Yes, you bought 4 OOC wins against what may be the worst Non-conference schedule I've ever seen, and you have about a weak as possible SEC schedule. But you're still capable of losing more than a few games. I've seen this hype train before.
