Arkansas coming in at number 20. Just to remind some of yall we didn’t always suck and we don’t have to settle for mediocrity.

We have a history and tradition but Top 20 don't mean jack in this NIL era and outside of 2-3 years in the past 30 seasons football hasn't done much noteworthy.

But we have. I've gave up that fight when Petrini was fired and Long hired JLS as interim. I knew at that moment we settled rather than Long going out and making a big hire.

Then we settled with Bert. Then we settled with Chad Morris. Then we hired an OL coach with no HC experience instead of hiring Kiffen.

Hog fans just keep putting up with it because we've settled for mediocrity.

And what's unbelievable is fans still buy season tickets at an alarming rate for a mediocre product.

Why change, when ticket sales are booming. The cost of tickets, donations, concessions, travel high increase exponentially, yet fans still come.

I thought the program hit rock bottom during the Chaggie years and change would've produced more wins. But here we are again as a program on the cusp of firing yet another loser.

that’s my point. I know we have but we don’t have too always and forever. Literally all it would take is an AD worth a frick who’s willing to do what it takes which means paying the going rate for a top notch coach and boom, we’re back in contention. But you aren’t going to hire a football coach good enough to compete in the sec under 8 million anymore. Just the nature of the beast. You can kick and scream about that being too much but that’s the cost to play.

I agree with you. I just don't believe it will happen. Arhog hit it. Why change when enough fans are still buying tickets?

Unless the Chicken man goes out and secures us a new coach then Hunter seems content to lose with Pittman.

Arkansas had plenty of options even when they did miss out on Kiffin. It was just another bad coaching search that produced a dud and it shouldn't be a surprise that Pittman was going to be bad.

His fall began after the 2021 season and hired Jimmy Sexton to get more money from Arkansas. I don't blame people for trying to be more financially secure but he didn't need that money and Arkansas could have used it for getting better assistant coaches or find a way to funnel it to NIL like other programs are doing.

I dropped my season tickets after getting into an argument with a gump fan and my friend who was married to a gump who was very obnoxious, kept showing me pictures of the office of Nick Saban. That wasn't fun and it just dragged on all day especially after getting the red arse from Bama. It didn't help that Bert lost to Missouri after giving up a 24-7 lead and Bert wasn't fired. If no one cared then why should I? They made that choice easy for me.

I still went to the games but the the spankings and dealing with opposing fans didn't justify keeping the season tickets. Now I may not go at all this year.

Arkansas has settled for mediocrity with Smile but those expectations got lower to the point that Arkansas is struggling just to get bowl eligible. Arkansas is below mediocre.

I’ve been to a ton of games and never once had a bad experience with opposing fans. Seems like that’s a choice, imo

I didn't have a choice in my section when a season ticket holder temporarily gave up his seat to a gump in front on me.

This gump fan kept hitting me in face with pom poms and asked him politely to stop. He ignored me and kept on and I said stop it again, he turned around and pointed to the letters on his shirt that said ALABAMA and sat back in his seat. He kept on but I grabbed the pom poms from his hands and told him if you do this again I will shove it up your arse and gave them back to him. He was about to say something but his wife cut him off and told him to be quiet.

Joe Dean Davenport was sitting right behind me and and I joked with him if he could have done something about it. He said no my name would be in the news and it didn't help he was drinking hours before the game. So a drunk former Razorback getting arrested didn't sound very appealing.

That wasn't the only gump fan I had to deal with and this gump didn't cause any problems but was very condescending towards Arkansas and kept me showing pictures the office of Nick Saban. I was thinking to myself is she going to show me his toilet? That his poop does indeed glow? I don't want to to know or care and was ready to get the game started with but the gump made it worse.

As long as the athletic program is raking in $167 million dollars a year in PROFIT, we will continue to have a sub .500 football team. In the era of NIL, the only hope our fball team has, is a mega donor with the right connections.

If the portal was held to the old rules then NIL would benefit Arkansas but with it so lacking, it makes NIL an unwinnable game and it keeps furthering the gap with the bigger programs.

These conferences and programs raking in the profits but NIL being passed to the boosters, alumni and fans to get recruits while the players on the field are the reason for the billon dollar rights to broadcast the games.

It takes a billionaire like Phil Knight or how T Boone Pickens was with OKST or a bunch of multimillionaires as Texas and A&M have to throw money at these top players.

People don't like to hear it with the season so close but it also helps if the HC makes a connection to the money people and those with money have some level of confidence or belief in the strategy of the program to have success.
