Smoke'em if you got them. Legalization next?

The NCAA, the largest governing body in intercollegiate sports, has announced that marijuana and cannabis products will be removed as a banned drug class for college football’s postseason and all Division I championships. The change took effect as of the conclusion of Tuesday's Division I Council meeting.
"The NCAA drug testing program is intended to focus on integrity of competition, and cannabis products do not provide a competitive advantage," said Josh Whitman, chair of NCAA’s Division I Council and the athletic director at the University of Illinois. "The council's focus is on policies centered on student-athlete health and well-being rather than punishment for cannabis use."

Makes sense.
No one ever ran faster after smoking a joint.

Good. Maybe our government will get on board someday.

I know I will be killed for this...but I hope not. The last thing we need is more impaired drivers on the road. Before people start...I do believe some people honor the law and do not smoke. I also believe that many more will try it when it is legalized. It is inevitable that we will have more impaired people on the road.

How many damn players have we lost in the conference over the year for this nonsense.

Missouri Tigers NIL has a big advantage over the rest of the SEC now - they're the only Decriminalized for Recreational state in the conference -

It’s definitely not “performance enhancing”.

I actually agree even though i'm pro legalization. And it will be difficult to prove they are impaired since you would test positive for any use in the last month. The good news is that a large number of people who drive while high are actually smoking a joint in the car. In the age of gummies and vape pens, how dumb do you have to be to blast a doobie speeding down the highway?

Let them bring the wacky weed over one of the non-pot state borders and watch what happens. Ironically, this silly azz stuff only happens in these here UNITED States.

Marijuana driving is slo-motion. It’s elderly driving. It’s only dangerous if one gets impatient with granny.

More people will drink less if it is legalized, leading to less drunk driving, which is A LOT more deadly. People seem to think there's addition without subtraction. A good portion of drinkers may switch over, and truthfully, probably won't go out as much. So this notion has been debunked.

Yep you probably should

Because driving high isn't dangerous?

Can you read? I didn't say that AT ALL. I said drunk driving is MORE dangerous, and that many people that drink and drive may make the switch to weed, which is less deadly. I don't see the roads being worse through legalization for this reason.

The real question is whether or not it is the government’s role to legislate every human action that could “potentially” harm another human. My stance has always been that it is very hypocritical for alcohol to be legal, and marijuana to be illegal. Of course legalizing it does not mean that it is ok to be reckless in your use of it, and harm other people. No different than alcohol use. JMO
Yes, I understand that this thread is about the NCAA, but it morphed at least in part, into a conversation about legalization.
