Do basketball players ever make good linemen? Jahzare Jackson

Went to a recruiting event this weekend and there was a 6’11” 330 lb fella there…my son is 6’2”, and the obvious kicker of the group:



LOL at my son, and holy shite.

It’s Jahzare Jackson, and apparently he’s an IMG (may have made that up) 3 star (or directly to the pros?) basketball player who is transitioning to football.

He was very well spoken and interacted with the support staff all day. Guess they peg him O-line smart. I imagine his feet are quick from basketball, but does that translate to the athleticism required to play on the line in the SEC? Elite size no matter what.

I would find it surprising if anyone 6’ 11” could consistently stay low enough to get the leverage they need as a lineman. Especially as an interior lineman. He might could make it as a defensive end, possibly an OT, but I can’t see it working out as an interior lineman. I think he would still struggle as an offensive tackle, but a lot of teams are so desperate there they might give him a shot.

If he wants an LSU offer there is a way Get your son to kick balls at Kellys office window at FB ops.
