Pretty cool that the Nicklaus Award comes with this bid to compete at his tournament.

Course is gorgeous too

Koivun is currently through 16 and +3, within the projected cut line so far

Course is playing tough with the wind. Was in trouble through 10 with 2 double bogeys and another bogey. Back to back birdies on the 14th and 15th helped a ton

+4 on the day. +4 for the Tourney. Cut is +4 at the moment. Tough conditions so I don't see it going down. +5 may be enough.

ETA he three putted from 10' on 18 for a bogey...................after hitting a beautiful second shot from a fairway bunker

To make a cut at an elevated PGA tour event as a freshman.

Impressive.

The projected cut is now +4 so a number of golfers with scores better than +4 need to start having really bad days or his tournament is over.

That 3-putt on 18 might have done him in.

Just looked.

Cut line is +4.

He makes it IF it stays there.

Top 50 and ties.

Not many golfers on the course who can get to 3 over

2 at 4 over who could.

Pavon at 5 over could.

The math is on Jackson’s side.
I don’t see a big birdie binge coming for the field.

+4 had dropped below the cut when I posted but you’re right, he’s above the cut again, so maybe what I hoped for is happening, some golfers that were above him started crashing hard on the back 9.

BTW, my son told me that Koivun is the first amateur to make the cut at The Memorial since 2009.

This kid is gonna be a star. He will only continue to get longer on his drives and more finesse on the greens.

What a massive accomplishment and great representation of Auburn University.
