And that's pure BS. LSU does pay players. Kelly was trying to promote a completely false narrative to try to excuse misses in the portal.
An accurate statement would have been: "Yeah, we didn't sign any portal DL. They wanted more than we were willing to give them."
He didn't say that though. He went with a holier-than-thou approach that was completely untrue. It's unsurprising that fans of other teams are calling him out on that.
Except he's literally spoke in favor of paying players before. He's even said he was in favor of exploring profit sharing.

What he said in the past doesn't change the virtue signaling he's doing right now. Or the fact he's simply lying right now about LSU not buying players.
I agree, he's not consistent. What he said before about paying players is what he's doing. What he is saying now about paying players is a lie.
