Every coach does say that. Which is why this is a non-issue,

Saying it and meaning it are 2 different things, though.

When LSU offers an NIL package, do they ever raise it in negotiation?

If they do, then he is full of shite.

Of of the hundreds of people who have commented on this sound bite today, I bet 95% of them didn't even bother to listen to everything he said, including you. He states in the interview that there are NIL opportunities for players they are recruiting to LSU. Of course that is part of what they offer to every player that is worthy of a NIL deal, just like everyone else does. What they are not going to do is offer a random DT in the spring portal more than any player on the roster or any assistant coach makes in a year just because he wants the biggest bag.

Not really.

Let's say LSU offers a player $400k and Texas offers him $450k, the player approaches LSU and asks if they can be a little more competitive.

LSU gives him $425k and he goes to LSU, that's a player that isn't only interested in money or he would've just went to the highest bidder.

Some kids are wanting a competitive offer plus a good chance at development, etc

Some are just looking for the most money, BK is saying he doesn't want those just interested in money.
