How do you not list 1988 LSU? That 4th down play singlehandedly kept AU out of the Sugar Bowl against #1 Notre Dame.
I didn’t realize playing Notre Dame equals winning a National Championship. Explain how that works for me.

Simple- ND wanted to play the Sugar. Catholics and whatnot. All AU had to do was stop a 4th down and get a shot at it.
But my bad- I didn't realize that all you were talking about was games where the runner up lost to the national champion. Yes, I'd say in likelihood, you could get responses from Washington, TCU, Alabama, Ohio State, Clemson, UGA, Alabama, Oregon, Auburn, Notre Dame, And LSU fans, etc-. I'll bet they have some wild stories to tell that yes, indeed, their losses in their respective championship games quite likely cost them a national championship.
Carry on.
