Dam! As an LSU fan i would have guessed easily most of the 90's would have been where LSU would have landed unranked. Did realize we were pretty bad for a good chunk of the 70's. ![](https://images.tigerdroppings.com/Images/Icons/IconLOL.gif)

Well, keep on mind that they only ranked the top 20 back then.
And yes, LSU I'm sure was also unranked for these 7 seasons: 1989-1995.

Now you know why Coach McClendon was pushed out by the LSU administration and BOS after the 1979 season.

We weren’t bad just weren’t that good and the SEC didn’t get the benefit of the doubt it does now

LSU sucking is hardly anything new.

LSU during their longest streak:
1974: 5-5-1
1975: 5-6
1976: 7-3-1
1977: 8-4
1978: 8-4
1979: 7-5
1980: 7-4
1981: 3-7-1
LSU wasn’t terrible in the 70s, just not good enough to be top 20. 89-94 had some absolutely terrible teams.
