Is Birmingham Southern University's shutting down due to lack of enrollment caused by being in such a bad part of town?

The answer is yes. If they would have moved the campus to the suburbs they would be thriving. The brutal rape, torture, and murder of one of their coeds in the 70s started the downfall

Not really the case. They’ve been an oasis on the nasty side of Birmingham for decades, wall and all, but what killed them ultimately boils down to them being a tiny liberal arts college that had a VERY bad case of mismanagement in recent years.
