Eh, I’m inclined to believe it’s more analogous to the Petrino hiring in 2007 wherein we got spurned by Grove, Tuberville and Bowden and Petrino fell to us through providential circumstances.

The likeliest scenario is that we targeted and negotiated with Beard and Tang and both leveraged us for money and additional guarantees from their school, and Yurachek was left holding his dick in his hands and got thrown a lifeline by Johnny Tyson.

If it is true that Beard wouldn't sign a deal that would prevent him from leaving for 2-3 years, then hunter did us a favor by walking

This pretty much sums up what I think happened as well. The Kentucky fans are just plain tired of Cal and he had to know the clock was ticking. The Arkansas job opening and our top choices turning us down put him in the catbird's seat. He can rejuvenate his career (and get paid a lot) without having to worry about being tarred and feathered.
