Simple answer: Clark is gonna get hers regardless of who we put on her.. so let's try to take away everyone else and hope that Clark doesn't hit 9 of 16 three point shots (or whatever her stats were)..

It didn't work.. but it wouldn't have been the 1st time a coach tried this.. Sometimes it works.. sometimes it doesn't.

Only a DUMBARSE coach sticks with a losing formula and not trying something different until it's to late.

That's what some people said Creighton should do with Dalton Knecht. Instead, McDermott put his All-American on Knecht, and Scheierman did a credible job. Mulkey should have put Johnson on Clark.
