I'll tell you my personal opinion on the Mannings. And it's just that, an opinion, because I don't know them. Archie Manning was the second overall pick in the 1971 NFL Draft and played for the New Orleans Saints for ten full seasons. During his tenure in New Orleans, the Saints had nine losing seasons. They only managed to get to .500 once in 1979, which was also the only season they finished higher than third in their division.

I think Archie vowed after his experience in New Orleans that he wasn't going to let his sons endure that type of failure. He let Peyton go to UT because it was the best situation at the time. He told Eli to tell the Chargers to frick off when they drafted him because they were a shite organization at the time. The family let Arch go to Texas because they felt it was the best situation for him. And frankly, none of them give a country shite about a video game.

You mean being a mediocre QB that couldn’t lead a team to a winning season in 10 years but blaming the organization for all his failings?

Manning may be the most overrated loser in NFL history. He simply was not a good leader nor as good a player as some make him out to be.

In the end, he and his kin can do as they please, but announcing you are opting out of a video game is exactly the opposite of “focusing on football”. Doing that would have been not saying shite at all, but because they made a point to state Arch “did” this, should tell you all you need to know.
